About the Course

This intensive workshop welcomes researchers from biomedical sciences, physics, and engineering backgrounds. Through a blend of theory and hands-on practice, you'll gain essential skills in fluorescence microscopy - from optical principles to image acquisition and analysis.
What You'll Learn:
Optical Foundations – Core principles of optics and microscopy techniques
Fluorescence Microscopy – Understanding the theory behind fluorescence imaging
Build Your Own Microscope – Collaborate in small teams to assemble an openUC2 fluorescence microscope
Sample Preparation – Perform immunofluorescent labeling of biological samples
Image Acquisition – Learn how to capture images using a microscope
Image Analysis Fundamentals – Learn essential tools and workflows for analyzing biological images
This workshop bridges the gap between theory and practice, giving you hands-on experience with every stage of the microscopy pipeline - from instrument construction to data interpretation.

No previous microscopy experience needed. We're looking for motivated participants who will:
