About the Course
This 6-day workshop is open to BSc, MSc and PhD students in bio-medical, physics or engineering fields. We will take you through the basic tools needed to create and analyse fluorescence images of biological samples.
Topics covered:
● Fundamental optics & principles of microscopy
● Fluorescence & confocal microscopy theory
● Building an OpenFlexure, 3D-printed fluorescence microscope in small teams
● Immuno-fluorescent labelling of malaria infected erythrocytes
● Imaging labelled samples on self-built microscopes
● Basic principles and tools for bio-image analysis
● Challenges for teams to quantify features of the images they have taken.
● Student presentations of their work
