This course aims to provide students with a fundamental understanding of light microscopy techniques and their applications to biological/biomedical research. In addition, we introduce computerized image analysis and provi de an overview of the basic methods and tools available.

The course will consist of both theoretical and practical sessions with sample preparation, imaging and subsequent analysis of the images, allowing students to establish basic workflows for their own future research.

Seminars and practical sessions will take place over two weeks on a part-time basis (~50%) allowing students to manage other commitments they may have.
